Expansion plans for Wolverhampton casino

2008-08-04 17:24:43

The owners of the Rubicon Casino in Wolverhampton have announced plans to expand their operations when they eventually relocate.

It is hoped that the growth will generate 30 new jobs once new premises have been found, according to the Express and Star.

The existing 12,000 sq ft venue is to be demolished to make way for a shopping centre, but the developers are aiming for an alternative site around twice the size of the existing casino.

Included in the new plans are an entertainment venue, bars, restaurants and cafes, according to Allan Griffiths, the club manager.

Duncan Savage, operations director at Rubicon's owner Blue Chip Casinos, commented: "We're actively seeking new premises.

"We've been looking within the ring road but there's been nothing available that was suitable so we've started looking outside the ring road."

In February this year, Wolverhampton was one of 16 local authorities - including Great Yarmouth, Milton Keynes and Swansea - granted permission to licence new casinos.
